Located in the southwest of Sardinia, Sant'Antioco is the fourth largest island in Italy. It is connected to the main island by a bridge of 5 km in the lagoon which lands precisely in the town of... Sant'Antioco. The town, very quiet, seems to rest on its glorious laurels. Sant'Antioco was founded in 770 BC by the Phoenicians who named it Sulcis. The archaeological museum preserves many testimonies of this presence. It then passed into the hands of the Carthaginians, then the Romans, and enjoyed a long period of prosperity thanks to its commercial port where minerals were traded. But the surroundings of the city also have more ancient archaeological remains such as the menhirs of Sa Mongia and Su Para, the tombs of the giants Su Niu and Su Crobu or the nuraghe of Canai. Sant'Antioco (the town) does not have a beach and you have to take the car to discover the coves of Maladroxia or Coaquaddus. In the evening, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II comes alive as if by magic. In the summer, street performers take place and numerous events are organized. An island charm that does not leave you indifferent.
