Travel Guide Taibe

The village of Taybeh (or Taibe) lies 15 km northeast of Ramallah and is home to the only 100% Christian community in the West Bank. According to Christian tradition, Jesus withdrew here for a time with his disciples, after the resurrection of Lazarus. The church of St. George was built in the5th century, on the hill that closes off the village to the east: today, you can visit the touching ruins of this Byzantine church. In town, a few remnants of the Crusader presence remain. People also come to visit the brewery, the only one of its kind in Palestine, and taste the famous Taybeh beer, especially during the Oktoberfest festival, celebrated every year.
