Nestled between Kootenay and Banff National Parks, this small 390.5 km2 UNESCO provincial park takes its name from Mount Assiniboine, which sits on the Alberta-British Columbia border. At 3,618 m, it is the summit of Banff National Park. It is sometimes referred to as the "Matterhorn of the Canadian Rockies" because of its pyramid-like resemblance to the famous Matterhorn peak in Switzerland. There are no roads into the park, the trails are the only way in. On site, camping, climbing, hiking, fishing or horseback riding will be offered.
