Crossed by an important Roman road, the Via Claudia Augusta Altinate, Castelo Tesino was a strategic outpost. In the 15th century it came under Austrian rule until the First World War. The men were then called to the far eastern front of the Austro-Hungarian Empire while the villages were bombed. Today, Castelo Tesino is a mountain village of 1,200 souls that lives on tourism and agriculture. It is the starting point of several hiking trails that allow you to visit the Cascatella Park, the Celado plateau, the botanical garden of Lagorai and the Valsugana caves.
