Area of 23 440 ha on the Cordillère del Merendón. The highest peak peaked at 2 242 m (Cerro Jilinco). More than 200 species of birds have been identified to date. The months of October to March are the most appropriate to observe them. With a little patience, caimans can be seen. The infrastructure is satisfactory, but the park is not easy to access if you do not have a vehicle (4 x 4 in the rainy season). To get there, you must win Cofradía in the direction of Santa Rosa (18 km from San Pedro, buses go there). A 26 km track (delicate in winter) leads to Buenos Aires. Lorries are regularly moving in that direction. Attention: The detour to the park is not in the centre of the village of Cofradía, but more in the west. In one day it is possible to visit the park (from 2 to 3 hours drive from San Pedro to the visitor centre). However, remember that to see animals you have to get up early in the morning.
