Santa Barbara National Park is the paradise of ornithologists, but also of anyone who simply wants to explore one of the last tropical forests hung on a mountain slope. It was created in 1987 and covers an area of 121 km ². The mountain Santa Barbara reaches 2744 metres high, making it the second highest peak in Honduras. It is possible to climb, take 7 hours of hiking. Access for the summit takes place from the village of Los Andes on the south-east slope. The paths are not too steep, but are waiting to salir your shoes because the mud is in the nublados bosques (very wet cloud forests). Caimans, trogons, toucans, hummingbirds (and many other rare bird species) are regularly visible in the park. Accompanied by a local guide, you can discover local fauna and flora, as well as its many medicinal and edible plants.
