The small town of Copán Ruinas, located one kilometer from majestic Mayan ruins, is a quiet oasis of ancient culture and beautiful nature. It is an essential step in Honduras on the road to Guatemala (12 km border). Small tourist enclave in an authentic rural landscape, it inevitably seduce the traveler. Its paved alleys, its quiet colonial atmosphere, its indolent palms, its horse-mounted horses make up an admirable array. The tourist offer is well developed. Copán Ruinas and his archeological site have been on the UNESCO heritage list since 1980.Copán Ruinas has developed in recent years because of the proximity of Mayan ruins. The central square, a few minutes ago, is now one of the most beautiful in western Canada. The main crops in the region are tobacco and coffee. The inhabitants are very warm and their faces always smile.Yet the construction of an airport in early 2015 augurs for better days for tourism, at the risk of changing it forever for that region. A new Antigua in a few years? At the beginning of 2018, however, the airport appeared to be still not served by any regular company. Still, a stay in this pretty little corner of the Honduran mountains goes very fast and we go back with images full of head.
