Once past Lanquín, we arrive in the heart of a thick subtropical forest where we find a natural curiosity that is absolutely breathtaking: a limestone bridge 300 meters wide through which flows the Cahabón River. Specifically, it is a huge staircase made up of seven natural pools, each one from one to three meters deep. Their colors are remarkable, oscillating constantly between the turquoise and the green of water. But that's not all: most of Cahabón's course is under the series of waterfalls, which at the end of its trajectory forms a 40-meter high waterfall that joins the rest of the river. The visit is a must and allows you to immerse yourself in a protected area rich in biodiversity. Semuc Champey is home to some 100 species of birds, 34 mammals, 25 reptiles and amphibians, and more than 120 species of trees.
