Travel Guide Blue Mounds

26 miles and 30 minutes south of Pipestone, on US 75, Blue Mounds State Park gives a nice glimpse of what the area was like before the Europeans arrived. Established in 1937, this state park offers an ocean of greenery as far as the eye can see, the grasses undulating in the wind and the spectacle of hordes of bison grazing in the area. It is for the presence of these animals that we come to this park. The nearest town is Luverne, which has a population of 4,600 and a few hotels where you can sleep. Otherwise, you can spend the night in the park, which has a campsite open from May to November.
