In June 2014, the Tràng An landscape complex was inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage List. The complex covers the site of Tràng An, but also Hoa Lu, with temples, pagodas, rice field landscapes, villages and sacred places. The site is both natural and cultural heritage. Unesco has recognized the value of the landscape constituted by the succession of valleys nestled in the middle of the labyrinth of karst formations, but also the historical interest of a site where traces of human activities have been uncovered that testify to the occupation of the massif by hunter-gatherers some 30,000 years ago.
