Eupen is the capital of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Located at the confluence of the Vesdre and Hill or Helle, on the edge of Herve country, the city was born in the th century. Now a large village, Eupen passed from the hands of the Prince of Liège to those of the Dukes of Brabant, which made it a rich centre of draperie. After being spent in Prussia for almost a century, Eupen became Belgian. Now in the heart of the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. The city has some beautiful monuments: The Gothic churches of Saint-Nicolas (early th century) and Saint-Joseph, beautiful mansions dating from the th century, the communal house housed in a former capuchin convent of the th century, the convent church with a nice furniture.
