There were many collieries in Boussu and you can still see former miners there. The coron surrounding the site of the Grand Hornu is a very "telling" example of the type of working-class housing in the commune. The Hades amphitheatre, built in the style of a coliseum, is another architectural curiosity of the town. Formerly a county, it contains the ruins of a castle and a 12th and 16th century funeral chapel, as well as several remarkable funerary sculptures, such as a recumbent attributed to Jacques du Breucq or a 16th century transient known as the "moulon man"; in other words, the worm man. An instructive city!
