Roundwood, formerly Tochar (Gaelic: An Tóchar, meaning "the causeway"), is a peaceful little village of around a thousand inhabitants, nestled in the Wicklow mountains. At 238 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest villages in the country. For motorized visitors, it's an ideal starting point for exploring the popular Glendalough site, just 7 kilometers away. It's also a great base for exploring the beautiful Glenmalure Valley, with its scenic route and stages of the Wicklow Way, a popular walker's trail.
