Visible from afar thanks to the three towers of its beautiful cathedral, Truro is the county capital and the only town in Cornwall. It has had city status since 1877 and is an important trading center thanks to its port. The cathedral is the main attraction, but people also come here for its elegant architecture and quiet, rural atmosphere. The commune is twinned with Morlaix in Brittany, a reminder of the important cultural and historical links between these two Celtic lands on either side of the English Channel. Fans of the Poldark series will recognize its pretty alleyways, now filled with independent boutiques.
