Podzamcze is a small, historic village, the former estate of an old Polish noble family, the Zamoyskis. They built a beautiful Renaissance manor house, now abandoned, on the site of an older castle. It was occupied even before the war, and is even the birthplace of the former pretender to the throne of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Ferdinand, of the Bourbon dynasty (a village's pride is a small thing)! Nearby are other ruins, a neo-Gothic tower from the first half of the 19th century and a stable. The site was also home to a farm collectivized by the Communist regime.
