Koźiegłowy is a market town on the edge of the Cracovian Jura, on the Śląsk plateau, a region dominated by plains and valleys, on the banks of the Warta River. It was founded in the 12th century around a fortified castle. The town has retained its 14th and 15th century layout and is well worth a stroll. The Rynek is occupied by houses from the first half of the 19th century. The ruins of its castle, dating from the 13th and 14th centuries, are picturesque. Built in Gothic style, it was destroyed in 1452-1457, rebuilt and then demolished during the Swedish invasion of 1655. All that remains today are the foundations and the outline of the moat.
