This pretty little village, 13 km west of České Budějovice (30 min by bus), is on the Unesco World Heritage list. Here you will indeed see some of the finest examples of peasant architecture (known as "rural baroque") in southern Bohemia. About half of the 40 houses and farms date from before 1827, the others from the period 1840-1880. Very well preserved and really beautiful, they are worth a look. At the foot of the Skalka hill, in the Blansko forest, this beautiful town takes its name from the Holas family, who settled here in the 13th century. There is a small bar and a pottery workshop.
