Campos do Jordão is a town of 46,500 inhabitants, reminiscent of the Black Forest in Germany. Located at an altitude of almost 1,700m, it is the winter destination of the Paulistas. The bucolic (but unfortunately very expensive) Campos with its crown of peaks (pico de Itapeva, at 2,035 m) offers an unexpected vision of Brazilian diversity, even if the village remains rather artificial. The cable car and the small tramway that connect the three suburbs of the city add an extra dimension to this city that claims to be "the most European of Brazil". The city is on the other hand rather extended, a part is rather ugly.
