Bamendjou is a Bamiléké village in the Hauts-plateaux department, some twenty kilometers southwest of the crossroads town of Bafoussam. The Bamendjoun chieftaincy has been marked by its oral tradition, making art a means of expression down through the generations. The DE kings Fo'o Bakum, chief weaver, Fo'o Tsela, chief blacksmith, or Fo'oNgoum, producer of raffia-fibre blankets, are perfect examples of the importance of craftsmanship in the life of the chiefdom. Lu musée de la chefferir de Bamendjoun bears witness to the arts of these creators through its collection, which recounts the history and evolution of these disciplines
