It is a small rural town that is important for tourism, architecture and chieftaincy, and is located in the Palais du Fon (traditional chief). All the surrounding plots of land are cultivated, including beans, tomatoes (very common in the west and northwest of the country) and corn. Stone is widely used for house pillars and basements. At the end of the village, once you pass an empty checkpoint, you walk along a path with deep ruts. We arrive at the end of a completely broken down 2 km track where we are forced to drive at a walking pace. This track leads to the market place. The market, one of the most important in the region, is held every day. The centre is not very far away: you take the left path along the market, you go down a path again, you turn right to reach the heart of the village where the church is located, a beautiful colonial building erected in the middle of the banana trees. The site is very pleasant, it floats an atmosphere of serenity evoking a distant era.Presbyterian churches are very well established in Bafut. Nevertheless, religious syncretism dominates. On the square, there is a small hut with sculptures where musicians can play. Traditional dances can then begin. Nearby is the chiefdom, marked at its entrance by a low stone wall lined with palm trees.
