The town of Dschang was built by Germans who arrived here at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1903. It would seem that the origin of the town's name is a contraction of the word Tsah Tsang, which literally means "land of palaver". This reputation is due to the fact that, when the Germans arrived, two rival tribes were fighting over this territory without reaching an agreement. They finally decided to cede the territory to the Germans.Dschang is a lively and dynamic student town. It is a "city-street", a "city-nature" surrounded by hills dotted with a few trees, and every usable plot has been cultivated.
