Mount Panié is the highest peak of the Caillou, reaching a height of 1,629 metres. It is surrounded by a botanical reserve where many species such as the giant kaori live, which do not grow anywhere else in Caledonia. Unescorted hikers are not allowed to enter it to protect its fauna and flora: the North Province requires that visitors be accompanied by a qualified guide as a hiking guide, and no one in the municipality has this qualification. The Dayu Biik association manages the protection of the site, in partnership with the North Province.More information: ✆+687 42 87 77, [email protected]
