Founded in 1898, Poya (Nèkö en kanak) has this original that part of its area is located in Southern Province, while the municipality depends on the North province. Its 3 541 inhabitants live mostly in the exploitation of nickel and work in Népoui, a mining village located farther north. However, agriculture is a significant source of activity and income, as evidenced by livestock farms at the foot of the Chaîne. This beautiful flowered village, with white houses, is a true oasis in the heart of an arid plain burned by the sun.
