Located 9 km from Loznica and 72 km northwest of Valjevo, this small picturesque village of Mačva was the birthplace of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić (1787-1864), the great reformer of the Serbian language. It was in 1933 that his birthplace was rebuilt and the first Vukov Sabor, the oldest cultural event in the country, took place. There is also a typical wooden church dedicated to St. Michael. It is a destination that is not lacking in charm but above all a pretext for a stop on a road trip in the region, with a few open-air restaurants of Serbian specialties that are open in the summer season.
