Krásna Hôrka Castle probably dates back to the 13th century. It would then have served as a refuge for the Hungarian king Béla IV against the Mongols. He thanked the owners, the Bebek family, by giving them a lot of land around the castle. At the end of the 16th century, the castle was returned to the Andrássy family, who transformed it into a beautiful Renaissance residence in the middle of the 17th century, renovated in a Baroque style in the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century the descendants of the Andrássy family turned the castle into a real family museum. Unfortunately, it caught fire in 2012, it has since been closed to the public and its renovation is long.
