As in the rest of the region, Gommersdorf is home to many attractive half-timbered houses and farms. In the 19th century, the rural exodus did not spare the commune. Gommersdorf is both an agricultural village and a residential area for people working in the industrial and commercial sectors, which has helped to maintain life in a place that wishes to preserve its rural soul. Gommersdorf is a pleasant place to live. It was here that the Association Maisons Paysannes d'Alsace (Alsatian Farmhouse Association) was born, and the village's former inn is now on display at the Ecomuseum of Alsace (Ungersheim).
