With some 3 900 ha (it was 4 500 ha in 1982) of steep and low altitude slopes, this forest reserve approximates its flora and fauna from that of Rumonge, to which it is associated. It is a clear forest of miombo type, where the botanical and animal elements already mentioned for the Réserve reserve (in Vyanda), the wild boar boar, are found. However, some spaces are higher, with sub forest galleries dominated by the species of ilomba (Pycnanthus angolensis) and Albizia grandibracteata (whose bark is valued chimpanzees of chimpanzees), and higher still, typical species of mountain rain forests, such as at Kibira or, closer, on the Bururi reserve.
