The RN 3 is located on the banks of the banks of the River Tanganyika. On a stretch of the road, there is a narrow coastal sidewalk, sometimes overlooked by high mountain slopes, but further afield in a coastal corridor, where there are large plains, such as Rumonge (Dama and Nyengewe rivers) or Nyanza-Lac (Rwaba River). This road to the south is admirable. It offers the spectacle of a dynamic coastal life for centuries. The littoral window developed exchanges with the interior of the country very early, which strengthened as the kingdom stabilisait its organization, as well as contacts with the outside, when the commercial networks of East Africa relied on the Traditional Docking Sites of Burundian Piroguiers to Flourish in Ujiji and Uvira in the th century.
