With its dunes, forests and bird sanctuaries, Ameland is without doubt the pearl of the Wadden Islands. The tiny villages of Hollum, Buren, Ballum and Nes (with the old commander's house) have kept some of the special atmosphere of the 18th-19th centuries, when the men of these lands were still hunting whales. Today, the small island lives from tourism and it is necessary to discover it, preferably a little out of season to avoid the hordes of tourists. The island once had two other villages that have since disappeared. Come and discover an interesting biodiversity and breathtakingly beautiful dunes and beaches
