Inhabited by a little over 10 000 people, the small island of Coche (13 km wide over 12 km long) is a little less affected by tourism. San Pedro, the capital, remains a fishing village. The pleasant beaches are here less busy and ideal for windsurfing and kite. Moreover, it is not uncommon for some windsurfers and kitesurfeurs to come directly from El Yaque to Coche.
