About 2,500 inhabitants. Nainativu (Nagadeepa, or Nadeepa) is definitely the island to visit during your stay. Besides the beauty of the landscape, it is home to two famous temples: Nagapooshani Amman Kovil, for the Hindus, and Nagadeepa Vihara, for the Buddhists. Both are easily identifiable from the sea, as they are located on the beach, at the starting and ending points of the shuttle bus: two piers less than 500 m apart. Although the northeastern part of the island, which is about 4 km long and 1 km wide, is the most visited, the whole island is completely inhabited and the Christian and Muslim religions also have their places of worship. The island can be easily visited in half a day and you will find some small local restaurants, notably the Priya Cool Bar near the jetty.
