26 kilometers northeast of Jaffna, 10 km from Kankesanthurai and 12 km from Point Pedro. Located on the coast, the small town of Thondaimanaru has about 5,000 inhabitants. It is home to an important Hindu temple dedicated to Murugan, the Selva Sannidhi Murugan Kovil, whose architecture resembles a Catholic church. The city also has a lagoon with shallow waters but which allows fishermen to find fish and feed their families. To date, it is not possible to get there from the coastal road from Kankesanthurai, as the police still prohibit access to the coastal area from the Jaffna airport (Palali Airport).
