Travel Guide La Calera

In La Calera, head for Cerro La Cruz, the highest point in the municipality, almost in the center of town. The Cross was installed at the top of the hill in the days of former mayor Osvaldo Burgos, offering an extraordinary panoramic view of the Aconcagua River. The path is quiet and not very busy. The Santo Nombre de Jesús parish church in La Calera, located in the Plaça Héroes de la Concepción, is the only one of its kind in the city. It is a meeting place for the parishioners of Cemento Melón, whose name pays homage to the century-old cement plant that operates in front of the church, now known as Lafarge Cementos.
