Superb excursion near Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, by foreign travellers, wrongly. Beautiful nature walks, well maintained hiking trails, refreshing campsites and an atmosphere reminiscent of the south of France, the Middle East and Mexico combined! The park is located in Quillota province, on the municipalities of Hijuela and Olmué. Created in 1967, it covers an area of 8 000 ha, between 400 and 2 200 m above sea level. The climate is typical of Chile's central area: Mediterranean, with fairly large rainfall in winter and a lack of precipitation in summer. The average temperature is around 17,5 ° C. The flora and fauna of the park are of great richness. In particular, the beautiful Chilean palm tree (Jubaea chilensis) or Kan Kan. It can reach a height of 30 m and have a longevity of a century. In the past, this gasoline was common in Chile; It was used to produce palm or coconut honey. Today, it is only remaining in certain sectors. There are very beautiful specimens of this palm tree in the Ocoa sector (north). The fauna is rich in several species of foxes and many birds of prey.
