Built on the banks of the Zambezi River, Chirundu is a dusty border village without much interest, except for fishing enthusiasts for whom a few lodges exist. It is only a place that one crosses to get to Zambia. It is no longer possible to take the road directly from Chirundu to Mana Pools, it is necessary to pass through Marongora. Chirundu is 363 km from Harare on the National Highway 1. There are daily chicken buses from Mbare Musika (Harare) to the village. For some years now, immigration formalities for Zimbabwe and Zambia have been carried out in a single building on the Zambian side of the border.
