This city of nearly 85,000 inhabitants is the mirror image of its twin sister city on the Zimbabwe side. And in the middle, the Zambezi River flows over a bridge built in 1939 and rebuilt in 2002. In the surroundings, the Chirundu fossil forest is a real archaeological curiosity. A sign indicates its location. Chirundu is also a must-see when visiting the Lower Zambezi Nation Park. The Gwabi River Lodge is the main departure point by boat to the park. It is a 2h30 drive from Lusaka (150 km). Then 80 US$ for a 1h30 boat ride (70 km along the Zambezi) to reach the lodges in the park.
