On the Tanzanian border, these falls are among the highest waterfalls in the world and occupy the 2nd position in Africa after those of Tugela in South Africa. With their 221 m, they are twice as high as Victoria Falls. From the top, the viewpoint is spectacular, with the water jet running a vertical diving along the steep canyon wall. The walks on the edge of the escarpment are beautiful. The region is also an important archaeological site that would have been occupied in the stone age 60 000 years ago. The discoveries made allowed archaeologists to determine a style of pottery called "De".You can go to the falls by boat or foot from the nearest walls. Campers from Mpulungu have been able to borrow the bus boat serving small coastal villages and get deposited in Nyamba. From here, a walk of 2 hours by a very beautiful trail leads to the top of the falls, where one can settle for the night (forecast its provisions). However, the journey to reach Nyamba can take up to 6 hours and, to several, it will be more convenient to rent a taxi. By car, the royal route consists of the Repasser, separated from the falls by 40 km of good track. Don't leave anything in your vehicles.
