This small town is a pleasant stopover between Lusaka (186 km away) and Livingstone (282 km away). It can also be a stopover on the way to the Lochinvar Park, as there is a very nice farm campground with a beautiful setting and small rustic cottages. Monze has only 1,500 inhabitants, so everything happens around the national road where travelers in transit stop to refuel and do some shopping. The town is named after its chief Monze. An annual thanksgiving ceremony in November is held in his palace near Gonde. Many Zambians from all over the country come to celebrate this moment.
