On Ruta 1, the town of Coronel Bogado, formerly Ka'i Puente ("Monkey Bridge"), is famous for its delicious chipas! The main activity of the city began about a century ago with the arrival of the train. The women got into the wagons with their baskets of chips, to sell them to the passengers. The "National Capital of Chipa" is said to have 60 chiperías today, most of them along the main street. Among the most famous are "Don Pipo", "Tatiana", "Tati" and "El Gordo". If you travel by bus, the chipas will come to you, don't worry! The "National Day of Chipa" is celebrated on the second Friday of August and the Festival Nacional del Chipá takes place at the end of December!
