Trew, means "village" in Welsh and lew, is the abbreviation of Lewis Jones, the founder of the town. Although the town may give an impression devoid of charm, a few buildings are a reminder of the town's Welsh past. In the heart of the lower Chubut Valley, the region was the first wheat producer until the province of Buenos Aires took over, when transportation costs became too expensive. Paleontology enthusiasts will not miss a stop at the Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio, as it was his team that discovered in 2014 the largest land dinosaur that has ever existed, Patagotitan mayorum.
