On the outskirts of the capital and on the banks of the Alzette, Hesperange is home to small picturesque dwellings and the ruins of a 13th and 14th century feudal castle that dominate the locality. Hesperange appears in history for the first time in 867, under the name "Hasmaringa marca", mentioned in a deed of the possessions of the abbey of Altmünster (Luxembourg-City). The castle was built around 1300 by the lords of Rodemack and was dismantled in 1480 and 1482 Hesperange will delight the amateurs of photography with the landscape offered by the watercourse which cuts the village and by its various points of view.
