Varazze is a seaside resort renowned for its beautiful sandy beach, more than 3 km long, and its marina that spans the bay. It lies between Punta della Mola and Punta dell'Aspera. In Roman times, the town was already an important shipyard. Its proximity to the forests of Mount Beigua guaranteed the supply of wood; the name Varazze comes from the medieval term Varagine, the place from which the boats are launched. Today the shipyards of Varazze continue their production, enjoying a certain international reputation, while the Marina di Varazze, which has 800 berths in the harbor, has become a lively district
