Located on the banks of the river La Pasión, about 200 kilometers north of Cobán and about 70 kilometers south of Flores, this small town allows access to several archaeological sites, among which we highlight El Ceibal, Aguateca, Dos Pilas, Altar de Sacrificios and Cancuén. On the other hand, it is an obligatory passage for visitors coming from Cobán or Lanquín, who go to Flores or to the north of Petén - and vice versa. Noisy and overwhelmed by the heat, Sayaxché is not particularly interesting. Thus, it is better to stay in the few beautiful addresses around to visit the archaeological wealth of the south of Petén. Another option, more expensive: to stay in Flores and to return within the framework of day excursions.
