Located in the same park as Tikal, about twenty kilometers to the north, the site is accessible by the entrance of the former. At first asphalted, the road quickly becomes a track, which makes it impassable during the rainy season: in this case, a 4X4 is necessary. If we add the remoteness of the places, we will understand that the tourists generally limit themselves to Tikal.However, Uaxactún does not miss attractions. They are mainly linked to its isolation, the modest vestiges of the Mayan city being lost in the middle of a dense vegetal cover, as well as to its history closely linked to that of its neighbor.
