Increasingly visited by tourists, the small town of Todos Santos Cuchumatán is set in a truly spectacular valley, between rock formations and sublime coniferous forests, some forty kilometers northwest of Huehuetenango. Todos Santos lies at the heart of the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes, a mountain range with a cold, wet climate that occupies some 15% of the national territory. The highest non-volcanic region in Central America, with La Torre as its peak - 3,837 meters above sea level - it abounds in ruggedly beautiful national parks, where pine trees stand side by side with bare rock, offering pictures that seem to have sprung from the imagination. Communities here lead a peaceful life, punctuated by their traditions and culture. The inhabitants are recognizable by their red pants with white stripes.
