15 km east of Santa Cruz, this small village is famous for its guaitile pottery, chorotega style, which can be found, original or copied, in all the souvenir stores of the country. Around the square, artisans work before your eyes the indigenous potteries. A living museum, where you can find exact replicas of pieces exhibited in Costa Rican museums, reproduced with great precision. Lots of choices and prices more interesting than elsewhere. The town is also famous in the country for its traditional cuisine, with many specialties based on corn - which grows in abundance in the area.
