Santa Cruz is a small town with an old-fashioned charm, but it is often forgotten during a trip to the peninsula, although it is known as the national city of folklore. The city is known all over the country for its amazing celebrations, with rodeos, dances, festivals, and traditional gastronomy. Around July 25, Santa Cruz celebrates the annexation of Guanacaste to Costa Rica (in 2022, it was 197 years). Over several days, the party invades the streets, colorful and dancing.
