This village enjoys a privileged location on the shores of Loch Ness and close to the beautiful glens that stretch further west. Urquhart Castle, nearby, is one of the most famous and photographed spots in the region. However, the local heroine remains Nessie, to whom we owe much of the dynamism linked to tourism. Two museum spaces are dedicated to her, one more adapted to families with young children who like to touch everything (Nessieland), the other one for a public that prefers to be told the stories of the lochs through films and special effects (The Loch Ness Centre). As for eating or lodging, prefer to stay away from the town, even if it means going to Fort Augustus.
