Brora is an ideal base for exploring the coastal scenery of northern Scotland, as well as its heritage. From its small rural beach, you can, with a little luck, observe dolphins, seals or minke whales. The town of Brora had an important mining activity in the coal industry until the 1960s. It is now mostly known for Dunrobin Castle, a superb Scottish noble residence not far from there. The Clynish Distillery is also located there and is part of the Highlands appellation. You can come here from Inverness in 1h30 by bus on the Stagecoach X99 or in 2h20 by train.
