This temple is part of the 75 temples listed by Kūkai (No.). Founded in 806 by Kūkai on a plot given by his father, Zentsū Saeki, he has a beautiful five-story pagoda and very beautiful camphor. It was rebuilt several times after burning and most of the current buildings date back to the th century. This temple is considered one of the three largest and more sacred of the sect Shingon-shū.
